Let’s talk BURNOUT…
Myth:🔥Burnout is caused by how much work you do and the lack of work-life balance.
Fact:🔥Burnout is more often caused by the amount of energy you’re working (and procrastinating) from.
Myth:🔥Taking time off work is guaranteed to stop you from burning out.
Fact: 🔥More time off work will not stop burnout if you feel guilty when you rest.
Myth:🔥Burnout is the price of having a successful career. The less stressed you are, the less successful you will be.
Fact:🔥Releasing your perfectionism handbrake will make you more successful and will stop you from burning out.
Burn Out can also stem from having an “All-Or-Nothing” mindset:
👉🏼 Feeling accomplished only if 100% successful.👉🏼 Giving up at the first sign of imperfection.👉🏼 Dismissing the compound effect of small wins.👉🏼 Fear of waisting effort.👉🏼 Not starting unless success is guaranteed.👉🏼 Not setting goals for fear of setting the “wrong” one.👉🏼 Falling off the wagon with habits and goals.👉🏼 Feeling like the imposter unless perfectly qualified.👉🏼 Waiting until you can get the perfect start.
November is a hard month for most. It’s not the end of the year just yet and it’s normally that final push at work to wrap up the year before taking a well-deserved break.
Unfortunately, we as a society have normalised burnout. Burnout and overworking has become culture, especially with as many of us are faced with extra personal stress outside of work, like politics, childcare, homeschooling, isolation, working from home etc.
Make sure you are taking proper self-care steps to avoid burnout.
