💚Honor Hunger. Respect + Feel Your Fullness.
What does it mean to listen to and honor your hunger? On the flip side, what does it mean to feel your fullness?
The benefit is that you can eat food intuitively, without having to weigh, measure or calculate food. You utilize your body’s natural cues to listen to what it needs and nourish it accordingly.
The key aspect to feeling your fullness is knowing that you will always have permission to eat. Food will ALWAYS be there and be available to you, so if you feel hungry again, you can always go back and eat more.
Unlearning the common diet rule that food needs to be scarce in order to lose weight is very important [This takes practice, friends! Give yourself some grace in the process].
💡Tips for honoring your hunger and feeling your fullness:1️⃣Eat slowly and be mindful of how your food tastes and feels to you.2️⃣Pause periodically throughout your meal and evaluate how hungry you still feel. Does the food taste good? Do you still feel senses of hunger?3️⃣If you still sense some hunger, eat a little more. If you sense that you’re at a comfortable satiety level, you can be finished for the time being (you can always get more later!)
What what does comfortable satiety feel like? Many people feel that they only know what hunger and being overly stuffed feels like. A comfortable level of satiety means you neither feel hungry, nor overly feel, you are neutral. Your stomach feels subtly full, not too much, not too little. You feel content, energized, and satisfied.
💕The process of changing your beliefs, feelings, and behaviors around listening to your hunger and feeling your fullness will be a positive chain reaction in the relationship with food and learning how to fuel the body well.
💛If you feel hunger or fullness, your body is guiding you. You are not “good” for suppressing hunger. You are not “bad” for feeling hungry. Let your body guide you and you will not only experience more freedom, but better results…and you’ll feel the difference.
