✨“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” is a common dieting phrase…and I want to punch that phrase in the face. ⁣⁣Let me tell you why…⁣⁣I used to run until I was dizzy. ⁣⁣My workouts took hours… Or they “didn’t count.” ⁣⁣I thought MORE was BETTER .⁣⁣I thought eating fewer and fewer calories would help me reach my goal… Until I didn’t recognize myself. ⁣⁣I cut out foods that I thought were “bad” until I didn’t have many options left to eat… And then spun even more out of control. ⁣⁣If I was tired, sore, injured, or hungry… It didn’t matter. I ignored the signs my body was giving me. ⁣⁣My body physically was shutting down, but my mind still thought, “Smaller. Smaller. Smaller.”⁣⁣Doctors. Treatment. Therapy. Practice. Grace.⁣⁣Over a 20 years later, I am a new person. ⁣⁣Let me tell you this…⁣⁣✨Freedom from those destructive thoughts and behaviors is FAR better than what I thought my “goal” was.⁣⁣ Most people don’t experience a clinical eating disorder like I did, but a lot of people experience shame with their bodies and a challenging relationship with food.⁣⁣There’s nothing inherently wrong with wanting to make adjustments to how your body looks, but the deeper purpose and how you do it makes all the difference. ⁣⁣Be wary of extremes and quick fix promises. They don’t work. ⁣They often to much more harm than you’d think.⁣⁣You can feel confident in your body and also enjoy food.
Being healthy (physically and mentally) feels good, but that doesn’t have just one look.⁣
Remember, a rich, full, happy life where you honor your body will always be worth it.⁣✨
