✨Am I allowed to eat this?⁣⁣ This is a common question I get from clients when they are just starting their health journey…and it’s especially common now when the weather is warmer. ⁣It’s a fair question in the sense that most diets will tell you a “yes and no” checklist of foods.⁣⁣Here’s a different approach…⁣⁣💡You don’t need my permission or anyone else’s to be allowed to eat food. Period.⁣⁣This is a mindset shift that can feel a bit scary or uncertain at first.⁣⁣However, the mindset of needing permission to eat certain foods is what is keeping you in short term yo-yo diets vs. a healthy lifestyle where you can get results, keep results, feel amazing, and actually enjoy your life.⁣⁣💛The mindset shift from seeking permission into being empowered in your food choices takes practice, but is actually quite simple when it comes down to it.⁣⁣Think about a couple things when working on this:⁣⁣1️⃣Will this food help me satisfy hunger, be fueled well, and/or help me reach my goals? ⁣⁣Basic knowledge of how foods fuel your body is empowering. It allows you to be healthier AND get the results that you want.⁣⁣2️⃣Will this food add to my quality of life by helping me mentally have more balance, a little fun and/or enjoy part of my culture? ⁣⁣Food is fuel, but it’s also much more than that. A healthy lifestyle includes being able to participate in fun stuff (like parties, fam dinners, etc) and also honor your preferences and what you ENJOY eating.⁣⁣You can enjoy food and then get right back into the routine. It’s no biggie. It’s life!⁣⁣💛All that said, it’s helpful to have guidance when you’re learning, but know that ultimately YOU are the master of your body and you don’t need to seek permission to fuel your life well.⁣
